FEMA Individual Assistance

O’Brien County has been approved by FEMA for Individual Assistance! Thank you for submitting your damage data and reporting information to O’Brien County EMA. This disaster has impacted thousands of people in the NW Iowa area. This approval is a major step to help with recovery. Thank you!
Options for applying for assistance:
-There will be several Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) Teams in the area going door to door. (There are multiple teams in the NW Iowa Area.) FEMA staff will have a FEMA ID that they will wear on a lanyard around their neck. Please ask to see the ID.
-You may call FEMA’s hotline at 800-621-3362
-You may download the FEMA App
-You may go to one of the open Disaster Recovery Centers
– Location: Rock Valley – FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (City Park Shelter House) 1013 13th Avenue, Rock Valley, IA 51247 (Hours: 8 am to 6 pm every day until further notice)
– Location: Spencer – FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (Clay County Regional Events Center – Tower Gate Pavilion) 800 W 18th Street, Spencer, IA 51301 (Hours: 8 am to 6 pm every day until further notice)
(Additional Disaster Recovery Centers may be opened in the future.)

Paullina residents……the city crew is doing as much as they can to address the rising waters! We ask that you please conserve water as to not put any more strain on our sewer system.
Many areas around Paullina are under water, roads are impassable and the water is going to continue to rise. Travel is not advised. Please stay safe!

Paullina Reappraisal Project – Done by O’Brien County

Starting April 1st, the assessor’s office will begin a door to door residential project in Paullina. The main employee will be Patrick Nelson. He has a badge identifying himself and will be in a light brown Jeep Cherokee with County stickers. He will be photographing and reviewing the exterior of all residential properties and request an interior inspection or leaving a door hanger. He has done this in Sutherland, Primghar, and Hartley and now they will begin work in Paullina. Homeowners will receive a letter prior to the visit. The first letters are going to those who live south of Green Street. (Phase 1 on the map). The County anticipates the total project will take 6-8 weeks.

3/25/2024 Paullina Board of Adjustments Meeting

EDIT……. THIS IS MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO PERMIT REVISION REMOVING VARIANCE REQUESTS.  The Paullina Board of Adjustments will meet on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 7:00p.m. at the Paullina City Hall, 127 S Main St, Paullina, Iowa 51046. They will review two variance requests from Charles and Amy Tilley for the construction of two additions at 217 E Grand Ave. Please see the attached PDF for more information.

2023 Water Quality Report

Please see the attached PDF for the 2023 Water Quality Report. This is the official notice for the 2023 Water Quality Report. The full report will not be mailed out to all residents. A direct URL to the report will be on the quarterly newsletter sent out with the April utility bills, please read these carefully and do not toss/ignore! If you would like a hard copy of the report, please stop by the city office at 127 S Main St, Paullina, IA. If you would like the full report mailed out please give the city a call at 712-949-3428 and we can send a hard copy with your monthly utility bill. The water quality report is also posted at the City Office in the lobby, the United States Post Office in Paullina, IA, and it will be posted in the N’West Iowa Review newspaper.
